A leading LGBTQ rights campaigner on the Church of England’s synod, and former islander, has said she is ‘absolutely thrilled’ by the news of the rejection of the House of Bishops report.
Jayne Ozanne is a former islander and a leading LGBTQ rights campaigner on the
Church of England’s synod.
A recent report by the House of Bishops, stating that church marriages should be between a man and a woman without exception has been voted on by the House of Clergy and rejected.
Ms Ozanne said she was ‘absolutely thrilled and also quite relieved. It was a bad report which didn’t serve the Church, the LGBTQ community or the nation well – now we can go back to the drawing board and hope to come up with something better’.
She also went on to say that the focus on relationships should be on love and not on sex.
