The States of Guernsey approved the introduction of Same Sex Marriage in this afternoon’s sitting, but a majority of 37 to 7.

An amendment was proposed by Deputy Hunter Adam, to introduce Union Civile as an alternative to Same Sex Marriage. This was defeated by 40 votes to 4.
Another amendment, proposed by Deputy De Lisle, aimed to introduce Civil Partnerships instead of Equal Marriage. This was also defeated by 37 votes to 7.
The final vote on the original proposals to introduce Same Sex Marriage passed by 37 votes to 7.
