The first ever Channel Islands Pride parade is taking place in St Helier, Jersey tomorrow, 12th September.
An article in today’s Guernsey Press describes how the event has been organised by pan island charity, Liberate. Members of Liberate in Guernsey are travelling to Jersey for the event.
Martin Gavet, chair of Liberate in Guernsey said “Liberate is about building bridges across the community and this is very much a community and family event. It’s fun, it’s exciting and it’s loud and proud”. He also went on to say “When you look at the origins of pride, it is about changing attitudes – changing laws and policies is one thing, but winning the hearts and minds of the community is another.”
The Jersey Evening Post also reported on the upcoming event. Read their report here.
