Liberate’s chairman, Martin Gavet, has stepped down from the role.

After 19 months as chair of Liberate, Martin Gavet (second from the left in the picture) has stepped down, but leaves a strong and passionate team to drive forward change.
While he has decided to step down as chair, Martin will still very much be a part of Liberate as a member.
‘It has always been my intention when we founded Liberate that I would step down at a certain juncture. I am now at a point where I just want to take some time off and regain that work/life balance and enjoy life a bit more’ he said. ‘I step down with a happy heart because I think Liberate is in a very strong position and has achieved an awful lot in a short period’.
He went on to say ‘I am confident in the team, they are a very strong team, with the likes of Ellie Jones and Pippa McCathie, who have been a great source of strength, not just with Liberate but also in times of personal trouble.’
Pippa McCathie (shown on the left in the picture) will now temporarily hold the position of chair for a few months, but Liberate is keen to share the position, and a different person will be elected on a rolling basis.
