Educators in Guernsey have the opportunity to take part in an Ofsted-recognised training programme during Channel Islands Pride Week thanks to EY’s commitment as educational sponsor.
Pride Week is being held in Guernsey for the first time this year following a successful launch in Jersey in 2015. The celebration is organised by Liberate and will take place from 10-17 September.
EY has partnered with Liberate and the States of Guernsey’s Committee for Education, Sport and Culture to provide training for local teachers and support agencies through the charity ‘Educate & Celebrate’.

The session will be run by Elly Barnes MBE, CEO and founder of the charity, and is designed to give teachers the confidence and skills to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia to ensure that local schools are inclusive environments for all students, including those in the LGBT+ community.
Vice chair of Liberate in Guernsey, Ellie Jones, said: “Thanks to EY’s support we’ve been able to offer these sessions to local teachers and other agencies and meet a real need among the community for this specialist training.
