We’re delighted to today launch our new short film – Disable The Label!
The film is being shown as part of the ‘Breaking the Barriers’ conference hosted by Guernsey MIND during Mental Health Week.
Over fifty people participated in the making of the film, which focuses on how we tend to label ourselves, singling out characteristics which make us different – gender; gender identity; sexual orientation; disability; belief; age; whether you are a Man United fan or a Chocoholic.
Labels can be fun but they can also have a serious side, and unfortunately sometimes they can used negatively to reinforce prejudice and hatred. This can have profound impacts on people’s mental health and wellbeing.
We forget that despite our differences, we are all the same, we all share one thing in common – our humanity. Labels belong on jars and tins, not on people. It is time to #DisableTheLabel and be kind to one another.
Take a look – you might spot yourself or a few familiar faces!
