The celebrations for this year’s Channel Islands Pride are just over a week away on Saturday 12th September – and the excitement is huge with Pride in Guernsey quite possibly being the only Pride going ahead this year in the British Isles! Liberate would like to take the opportunity to invite all the family to join in the fun and make the day a real party to remember!
Starting in Candie Gardens at 2pm, the colourful Pride Parade will wind through St Peter Port and arrive in Market Square, where a ton of bright and fun events will give everyone a chance to enjoy the day.
At its heart, Pride is an event for all the family to celebrate diversity and come together to support each other. Sponsored by HSBC, Market Square will host a Family Area with things to do for youth and child members of the community. Drag Queen Story Hour, crafting with Iris & Dora, and graffiti t-shirt making with the Youth Commission being just a few of the activities on offer – and all of them are free! Donation buckets will be nearby for those who are able to contribute, but it is of importance that everyone in the community is able to join in without spending money!
Pete Turner, HSBC Head of Wealth and Personal Banking in Guernsey said ‘Inclusion and connecting communities are at the heart of HSBC’s purpose. We’re proud to be involved in Channel Islands Pride again this year and are looking forward to celebrating with channel islanders and colleagues.’
Channel Islands Pride is, most importantly, an all-inclusive event, open to anyone who is a member of or wants to support the LGBTQ+ community. Join us to celebrate and promote equality for all, both in the Channel Islands and across the world.
Please note that all events advertised may be subject to last minute changes due to the changing COVID situation.
