Preparations are under way for Channel Islands Pride 2017. This year the event will be on September 9th and will be held in Jersey.
Liberate Jersey’s new chair Rachel French has confirmed that the event will have a theme of #IDo.
Legislation has only recently been introduced in Jersey to allow same-sex couples to marry. The States of Guernsey will be voting on Wednesday 26th April on whether to enact similar legislation. If it goes ahead, the first same-sex weddings should be able to take place in Guernsey in early May.
So get out your hats and come dressed for the occasion. The event will kick off at 2.30pm at the West Centre. There will be a parade through St Helier, ending in Weighbridge Square, where there will be entertainment on the Pride stage. The event is open to all, young and old. We welcome all those who support equality and diversity.
